On the 15th of July, PITC team led by Brig. Tariq Javed (R), Advisor on Innovation, PEC, visited Ministry of Science and Technology, and updated honorable Federal Minister of Science and Technology, Shibli Faraz, about the current status of the project “Pakistan Manufactured Ventilator System (PMVS)”. He thoroughly explained the execution process of the project as well as the testing protocols that have been implemented to ensure the quality of indigenously developed ventilators. Then, the way forward has been discussed.
Brig. Tariq introduced PITC, a powerful initiative by PEC, ready to play its role in the country’ Innovation and Entrepreneurship ecosystem and to accelerate the development of innovative scientific and engineering products with the aim of promoting “Made of Pakistan” products world-wide.
During the discussion, he also expressed that collaboration between NUtech and PITC will serve as a stepping stone for more beneficial work towards research and product development. Also, PITC will intensely work on strengthening the academia-industry linkages for all industrial sectors.
The honorable Federal Minister for Science and Technology acknowledged the development process and testing framework for ventilators developed by PEC with OEMs and DRAP. He emphasized that during serial production, the life cycle support mechanism should be defined by OEM and validated by PEC, and institutionalized training of technicians, paramedic staff, doctors and engineers should be organized to ensure optimum utilization and quality performance by the PMVS, when inducted in the health care system. Also, the central data repository for the testing laboratories in academia and industry needs to be developed that could be used in future to test the engineering equipment.
The formal ceremony to handover the ventilators registered by DRAP to His Excellency Prime Minister Mr. Imran Khan in PM house by Federal Minister for Science and Technology with the concerned stakeholders is anticipated in August 2021.
